Mentors and Judges

Maria AriƱo

She holds a degree in Political Science (UPF) and has completed studies in Clinical Psychology (UOC) and eHealth (UOC). She has a solid background in Catalonia’s technological ecosystem, managing digital transformation and innovation projects in sectors such as pharmaceuticals and AIconsulting. She is involved in research projects at the IN3 and IPCSPB laboratories at UOC and serves as a mentor in the UPF Alumni Programme. She currently works as an Innovation Project Manager in the Innovation and Partnership area at the Catalan Health and Social Care Consortium, and is part of the Technical Office of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Medicines (CIAM).

Miguel Romera

He is a freelance consultant and trainer in artificial intelligence, with over 5 years of experience in the field. He currently coordinates the Data Science and AI module in the Master’s in Fintech at the University of Barcelona (UB) and delivers specialized training on the use of artificial intelligence at the CSIC, as well as for companies and public institutions.

Iustina Ivanova

She is Researcher at Fondazione Bruno Kessler. Her expertise areas are: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Web development, Web interfaces, Computer Vision.

Cristian Rodriguez Rivero

Cristian graduated with a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the National University of Córdoba in 2007. He earned his Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from the same institution in 2016. While completing his doctoral thesis, he joined the Aeronautical University Institute in 2013 as an adjunct professor in Control Systems Dynamics. Following his Ph.D., he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuroscience at the University of California, Davis, in 2017, where he worked on a closed-loop phase-locked stimulation project. In 2019, he became a lecturer in Data Science for the Master’s program in Artificial Intelligence and Information Studies at the University of Amsterdam, and concurrently obtained the Dutch Teaching Qualification Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs (BKO) and while being a visiting researcher at AMC-UMC. Since 2022, he was an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Cardiff School of Technologies and, in 2024, he became a Fellow of the HEA and continued as Academic Associate at Cardiff while he took up an additional role as Prof. Visitant assimilated as Associate Professor at the Universitat PolitĆØcnica de Catalunya for the MERIT Project. His research interest lies within Forecasting, Data Dcience, Optimization, Machine/Deep Learning, Neuroengineering and AI in Healthcare.

Jaume MartĆ­nez

He holds a Technical Engineering degree in Telecommunications from EPSEM and a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from ETSETB (UPC), as well as an MBA. After gaining experience in various engineering companies, since 2008 he launched his freelance career and, in 2015, founded Asoindel, a software engineering firm specialized in industrial applications. With a strong focus on innovation and digitalization, he has led the development of customized solutions for the automation and optimization of processes in sectors such as manufacturing, energy, automocion, aeroespace and laboratory systems. During these years, he has successfully led several projects, including the adoption of new technologies in industrial environments.
