The MERIT project, co-funded under the Digital Europe Programme, continues to make strides in advancing digital skills across Europe. A highlight of this initiative is the success of the short-term courses offered at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH), as part of the MERIT programme. These courses provide a unique opportunity for professionals and students to gain critical knowledge in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), business analytics, and system integration.
From September 4th to 6th, 2023, Riga, Latvia became a hotspot for innovation, with the BalticAIHack event attracting international talents eager to push the boundaries of GenAI. Among the participants was a team of students from the MERIT program (five girls from VILNIUS TECH study programs Engineering of Artificial Intelligence and Management of Artificial Intelligence Solutions). The MERIT study program members formed a team, which included all of them and additional member from another institution, representing business part. This team, working under the name “AlumniCareerAI”, tackled a crucial challenge in the education sector, blending their technical prowess and interdisciplinary knowledge to solve a problem faced by educational institutions worldwide: tracking alumni career outcomes.

In September 2024, the MERIT project successfully launched four master’s programmes aimed at equipping students with advanced digital skills to meet the growing demand for experts in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The MERIT project organized an intensive four-day training workshop aimed at equipping teachers from ITT Marconi Rovereto, Italy with the skills and knowledge necessary to teach AI topics effectively.
On September 23-24, 2024, MERIT was showcased at the 6th edition of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Network Conference (CRAI) held at the Palas Congress Hall in Iași, Romania. The conference, hosted by “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi in collaboration with the Romanian-American Foundation, Digital Innovation Zone and other partners, brought together over 170 innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to promote technology transfer, entrepreneurial education, and innovation.

MERIT, a project co-funded by the EU under the Digital Europe Programme (GA 101083531), is launching four new master’s programmes and updating an existing one in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the internet of things for the 2024-2025 academic year. Through MERIT, students have the opportunity to connect and collaborate with academics and industry professionals across Europe, with placement opportunities and short-term visits available.
