New Short Courses at VILNIUS TECH under the MERIT Project
The MERIT project continues to offer learning opportunities for both ICT professionals and graduates. Our partner, VILNIUS TECH, is introducing two new short courses designed to enhance skills in Natural Language Processing and System Integration.

These courses are ideal for individuals with a bachelor’s degree and basic computer skills, appealing to both students and professionals interested in organisational and technological innovation.
Natural Language Processing – VILNIUS TECH
- Description: Participants will explore text-based data sources, retrieval solutions, and data preprocessing techniques, including tokenisation and text representation methods. The course covers sentiment analysis, text classification, part-of-speech tagging, and named entity recognition, with practical exercises in building domain-specific systems. Further topics include sequence labelling, sequence-to-sequence models, and neural language models for text generation. The programme concludes with an overview of question answering and dialogue systems, along with a review of existing NLP solutions, emerging research, and future trends.

System Integration – VILNIUS TECH
- Description: This course explores the definition and significance of system integration, addressing key challenges and trends. Participants will study integration architecture and components, relational and NoSQL databases, data warehousing, and optimisation. The course covers data integration strategies, including Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, middleware technologies, message-oriented middleware (MOM), and RESTful API design and integration. Other topics include authentication and authorisation requirements, Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions, cloud computing integration (serverless and microservices architectures), IoT ecosystems, mobile app development, and cross-platform integration. The course also reviews existing integration tools and platforms while exploring emerging research areas and the future of system integration and architectures.
