Central Catalonia Digital Forum: A Success with Strong Participation from Students and Companies

On 6 February, UPC Manresa hosted the Central Catalonia Digital Forum, bringing together students, professionals and local companies. The Central Catalonia Digital Forum aimed to connect technological talent with the local business ecosystem and to address current challenges related to digital transformation. The event created a collaborative space where students, academic staff, professionals and companies could exchange perspectives on innovation, sustainability and future digital trends.

The event recorded strong participation, serving as a meeting and exchange space between the academic and business sectors of Central Catalonia. Over the course of two hours, attendees took part in roundtable discussions, debate sessions, and networking activities, generating connections and synergies around innovation and digital talent.

The Central Catalonia Digital Forum is part of the European MERIT project, an educational ecosystem co-funded by the European Union under the Digital Europe Programme. The project involves the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) alongside other European universities, SMEs, and research and innovation centres, with the objective of fostering advanced digital skills and aligning specialised training with the real business needs.

Marta Millán, representative of Asoindel, one of the companies participating in the project and co-organiser of the event, highly valued the session: “Very interesting discussions emerged among attendees on technology, sustainability, and future trends, with active participation that allowed everyone to contribute their perspective, making the event highly enriching.”

From UPC’s perspective, the forum was also considered a great success. The companies participating in the three roundtables (Aigües de ManresaAlthaiaBrontobyteEnvasos BoixadósF2RGrup AquacenterMaccionMesaiProgress, and Selba) shared their views on the various topics addressed. During the networking session, attending companies, together with students and UPC staff, were able to further discuss the issues raised throughout the event.

The Central Catalonia Digital Forum concluded on a highly positive note, reaffirming its commitment to fostering spaces that connect universities, businesses and talent, thereby contributing to the technological and economic development of Central Catalonia.
