Short-term courses: Conclusion of the June online edition [+ Testimonials]
We are pleased to announce the completion of the first online edition of MERIT short-term courses in the framework of the MERIT project, co-funded by the European Union under the Digital Europe Programme. These learning courses, aimed at enhancing the competencies in advanced digital skills and boosting digitalisation in Europe, have been offered by three prestigious universities: Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC), Riga Technical University (RTU), and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH).
The June edition featured three online courses, each designed to equip participants with critical knowledge and skills in key areas of the digital economy. These courses were oriented on society upskilling, giving new and relevant knowledge and skills in advanced digital skills.
The results of participation were:
- Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI): Offered by VILNIUS TECH, this course covered topics such as AI definition, historical development, and its prominent role in computer science research. Participants gained practical skills by exploring various supervised and unsupervised learning methods, allowing them to build, test, and analyse models. 24 participants successfully completed the program, earning certificates.
- Business Analytics: This course was conducted by VILNIUS TECH and RTU. The curriculum covered time series analysis, forecasting methods, linear and nonlinear optimisation, key metrics for AI projects, a review of business intelligence tools, and an examination of the latest advancements in business analytics. Two dedicated participants successfully obtained their certification and are now better equipped to handle data-driven business challenges.
- Ethical, Legal and Human Aspects of AI and Cybersecurity: Given by UPC and RTU, this course delved into the important interdisciplinary aspects of AI and cybersecurity, providing valuable insights into the ethical and legal frameworks governing these fields. It explored issues such as accountability, control, privacy, and transparency in AI technologies. The most active two students obtained the certificates.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their hard work and dedication. Their commitment to upskilling is a testament to the vibrant and growing community of digital professionals in Europe.
