MERIT participates in the 20×30 Europe’s ADS Summit

On May 16, the 20×30: Europe’s Advanced Digital Skills Summit took place at La Nave Conference Centre in Madrid, bringing together thought leaders from business, academia, and policymakers to shape the future of Europe’s digital skills landscape. This event aimed to explore the latest advancements in digital skills and workforce development, supporting the ambitious goal of adding 20 million new ICT specialists by 2030, as part of the Digital Decade policy initiative.

This summit featured a dynamic program including roundtables, keynote speeches, workshops, and showcases of best practices, all designed to redefine Europe’s approach to digital skills. Industry experts, leaders, and innovators gathered to share their insights and strategies.

The objective of the event was to get insights from leaders —experts across education, research, government, and industry— to participate in engaging discussions and debates on ADS trends, challenges, and forecasts, and to learn from research highlights. Key findings from the LEADS project on ADS supply and demand projections up to 2030 were also presented.

The MERIT project, represented by members of Riga Technical University (RTU), was prominently showcased at the event. The dissemination activities included:

  • 1. MERIT’s booth at the event (9:30 AM – 5:30 PM) attracted significant attention with various MERIT-branded materials, including MERIT Youtube video dissemination, distribution of leaflets, discussions with stand visitors, interactions with participants of other stands, and a meeting with Advisory Board member Na Fu, Professor in HRM at Trinity Business School.
  • 2. A presentation by Dr. Agris Nikitenko (RTU) on the topic “Unlock the Potential of IoT” in the exhibition Hall (3:15 PM – 3:30 PM).
  • 3. Attendance at various thematic sessions and participation in discussions.

Overall, participation in the event was successful, and the project was popularised both in the stand with visitors and participants of other stands, and in other thematic sessions. A diverse range of topics and engaging discussions, including AI education, digital innovation, microelectronics skills, SMEs digital transformation, and IoT potential, provided valuable insights useful for the MERIT project.

Attending such an event served as a unique opportunity to enhance the visibility and potential impact of the project, seek new opportunities for cooperation, exchange ideas, and gain new impressions, thus improving the performance of the tasks to be implemented and the achievement of project goals.
