A Bold Leap into the Future: Student Enrolment in VILNIUS TECH’s New Master’s Study Programmes in AI

This year, the enrolment numbers for two of MERIT’s new master’s programmes in AI at VILNIUS TECH underscore this commitment and foresight.


New VILNIUS TECH Master’s Study Programmes in AI

Reacting to the market needs and trends, new AI master study programs started at VILNIUS TECH. Those are the MERIT project study programs, which aim to increase the level of advanced digital skills in Europe, orienting specifically on AI area. 

The students in the Engineering of Artificial Intelligence (EAI) master’s study programme are gearing up to become the innovators who will drive forward the next wave of AI technologies. Their engineering skills will be pivotal in creating cutting-edge AI systems and applications that can revolutionize the industry and economy of tomorrow. 

The Management of Artificial Intelligence Solutions (MAIS) master’s study programme is cultivating leaders who will ensure that AI technologies are implemented ethically and efficiently. These students will be the strategists and managers who will oversee the deployment of AI solutions, ensuring they are used to their full potential while addressing societal needs and concerns. 

Those two study programs represent two main areas of AI: the technical side and the management one. Together with the third component – market needs – it will fulfil the full loop of AI utilization: new AI solutions and technologies will be not only developed, but it will be done in efficient way, properly managed and applied to serve its purpose. 


Enrolment Statistics: A Closer Look 

The “Engineering of Artificial Intelligence” study program has welcomed 20 determined and ambitious students this year. Their owned ICT competencies from previous studies will work as a base for deeper understanding of AI and possible innovations in this field. 

The “Management of Artificial Intelligence Solutions” programme opened possibilities to study not only ICT field graduates. The conversion possibility for non-ICT field graduates lied a path to become a master of information systems. This year this study programme accepted 17 students which will evolve to AI experts, able to manage the existing AI solutions and properly apply it in different areas. 

There is a global opinion, choosing to pursue a master’s degree in AI is not a decision made lightly. The field of AI is often perceived as exceedingly complex, a domain requiring not only technical acumen but also innovative thinking and resilience. These students, by stepping into these programs, exhibit courage and a willingness to challenge the stereotype that AI is an inaccessible or overly daunting field and that only men can master it. In this year enrolment 44% of students are females. The diversity in gender and other areas lead to broader view and different perspectives developing new, innovative solutions. 

These students are more than just courageous; they are visionaries. They recognise the transformative power of AI and are determined to be at the forefront of this technological revolution. Their enrolment in these master’s programmes signifies a dedication to becoming leaders in AI, focusing on both developing new AI solutions and effectively integrating and managing existing ones. The graduates both from VILNIUS TECH as well as other higher education institutions dedicated to show their dedication and desire to upskill in the field of AI.
